Plot
Original stories set in the worlds of iconic video games are presented in this animated anthology series. Video games have taken a huge leap forward on the screen, and we’re celebrating the genre by taking a closer look at over 50 video game adaptations in movies and shows. The episode takes place after the events of the game that are mentioned in the podcast Film Junk: Episode 973: Carry-On (2024).
They feel like student attempts
The animation is beautiful, that’s undeniable. Although I can hardly get excited by such short episodes. It’s impossible to fully immerse yourself because you know it’s all going to be over before you can even form any kind of connection with the characters.
Reeves and Arnie play enjoyable roles
It was nice to see some familiar faces participate. It’s just that it’s all a little too experimental and shallow for me. Also, if I had the chance to choose the source material.
Pacman episode was ok
I think I would choose a completely different set of fan games. But it was a demonstration of pushing artistic freedom to its absolute limits. At least that made me laugh.
